Port Paddle and Wattamolla Walk


A fun filled day of paddling the Hacking River and walking the spectacular world class cliff top trails of the Coast Track. Meet in Bundeena for the short bus trip to beginning of your walk. Start the day off walking the stunning world class Royal National Park Coast Track from Bundeena to Wattamolla (10km medium grade) from where you will be shuttled back to Bundeena for your afternoon paddling adventure. Choose either to kayak or stand up paddle board and explore the beaches of Bundeena. This trip is run as a self guided adventure so that you are free to walk and paddle at your own pace.

* Note that we run this trip as both Paddle first and then Walk and also Walk first and the Paddle (make sure you select your preferred at time of booking)

$80 p.p.  (or $40 p.p. for groups of 10 or more on a day & time to suit you!)

Itinerary:

  • Meet at our lovely waterfront base at Bonnie Vale in Bundeena to complete paperwork and catch shuttle bus to beginning of walking track
  • Transfer to walking track
  • 10km coastal walk from Bundeena to Wattamolla - 3.5 hours approx.
  • Shuttle bus trip back to Bundeena (20mins)
  • Get into your paddling gear and jump aboard either a stand up paddle board or a kayak for 2 hours exploring the Bundeena beaches and Hacking Waterway



What to wear:

The Paddle:
Comfortable lightweight clothes (no jeans) are best - a long sleeve shirt and either shorts or pants
Hat with full coverage

Sunglasses (polarised variety offer the best protection while on the water)
Plastic shoes/thongs or shoes that you don’t mind getting wet.
Bring your swimming costume if you would like to enjoy a swim
Spray jacket in case of rain
Fleece  top or warm woollen layer
You will get wet when paddling from splashes and your feet will get wet when getting in and out of the kayak. So pack a change of clothes for afterwards


The Walk:
Back pack

Hat with full coverage
Sunglasses
Long sleeve light-weight shirt
Light-weight shorts or long pants (not jeans)
Fleece top or warm woollen layer
Spray jacket in case of rain
Comfortable boots and socks

What to Bring:

The Paddle:
Sunscreen, watch, 1 litre of water, Change of clothes for after paddle (as you will get wet from splashes), snacks
Optional gear to pack: swimming costume, towel, camera, large plastic bag (to keep your gear totally dry when on the water)

The Walk:
Sunscreen, Lunch, Watch, Backpack , 1-2 litres of Water – Hydration bladders are preferable but bottles are fine, Snacks & Lunch, Rubbish bag, Camera

Bus Transfers to beginning of track in Bundeena and from Wattamolla to Bundeena at end of walk, use of map, binoculars, first aid kit, information sheet  
Paddling:
Hire of kayak and paddle, PFD Safety Vest - Australian Standard, Basic Paddling Instruction, Small Dry Storage Bag



About the Kayaks:

You will be using one of our single or double sit-on-top kayaks. If you have a preference, please let us know at time of booking. All kayaks have good back support either as a moulded seat or as a padded fabric contraption. Kayaks have plenty of storage space either in enclosed hatches or open deck space. A dry storage bag for a small amount of gear (towel, jacket, phone etc) will be provided. If you plan to bring extra gear we recommend packing a large plastic garbage type bag.



Pre-Requisites:

No paddling or walking experience is required - beginners are welcome! All participants must be able to swim and be in reasonably fit condition. We also love having kids aboard and welcome children of all ages providing they are accompanied by an adult
